STONES AND PRAXIS
Mission:
Re-imagining the mission of Black “radical” perspectives- (past, present, future) as it relates to our cultural
practices and production, and the Praxis of Black Global Consciousness in general.

Definition of Praxis - Merriam Webster Dictionary:
We all know that praxis makes perfect, right? Oh wait, it’s practice, not praxis, that makes perfect! Worry not about confusing the two: as part of our educational praxis (how we act on our belief in the importance of providing information about language), we’ll sort them out here. Both praxis and practice come ultimately from the Greek verb prassein (“to do” or “to practice”), and both can refer to a habit or custom—that is, a usual way of doing something or of conducting oneself. Praxis, however, is more at home in formal, and often academic, writing; a sentence like “it is my praxis to eat breakfast cereal every morning” might make sense, but it’s not idiomatic. Praxis also has two meanings that are more specific; it can refer to the practice of an art, science…

My reply:
I have what you might think, radical perceptions and perspectives about using this man as inspiration-as it has been said, this man epitomizes the white patriarchy and a capitalist culture that I find antithetical to Blackness and in fact is anti-blackness. Having said this, I think it says somewhere in the bible, and I’m poorly paraphrasing, that God would use a rock to teach the words of the kingdom, referring to theocracy. But let’s not take casually the words of any spiritual pursuit.
The quote as told to the Pharisees by Jesus when asked to silence His followers for proclaiming him the king of glory, Jesus said:
“I tell you that if these should keep silent, the stones would immediately cry out” (Luke 19:40).We will tackle Blackness and the Christian church at a later date.
From the perspective of African based religion or spiritual practice, on the altars of initiates, the Orisha are often represented by stones—embodiments of the divine power—placed alongside other sacred emblems inside lidded calabash gourds, bowls, tureens, or jars. This adds another layer when thinking through what has been considered lowly and of the ground.
